The Bobby Miller Activity Center, located in Newt Hinton Park off of 69 S in Taylorville, opened September 1, 2006 and was dedicated on September 10, 2006. Features include a gym with multipurpose flooring, a community room, a multipurpose room, a catering kitchen, a fitness/cardiovascular room with workout equipment, heated indoor therapeutic and recreational pools, locker rooms, and a suspended walking track. This center also features the Taylorville Brown Branch of the Tuscaloosa County Public Library on the second level.

Neighborhood Programming
Make your 2010 fitness resolutions and use the Miller Center to achieve them! This is an 8-week challenge where you set your personal goals, weigh in, then come work out, walk or swim. Do any form of exercise at the center, and we’ll provide a log sheet to track your daily progress and some great prize incentives to aim for.
Date: January 4 – February 28
Time: Daily during center hours

Cost: No charge with membership, or casual user fee applies.
QuickStart Tennis
Next class begins in February! QuickStart Tennis is an exciting new indoor play format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the sport by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter dimensions and fun warm-up games, all tailored to their age and size. For kids ages 6-9. All equipment is provided, and parent or guardian can use the walking track or library during the class. Classes are small, so early registration is recommended.
Date: Tuesdays, February 23 – March 23
Time: 3:45-4:30 p.m.
Location: Miller Center Gym
Cost: $25 per person for five classes
Prom Fashion Fair
Plan now to come out to the Miller Center’s 1st Annual Prom Fair to check out the latest fashions in dresses and gowns, tuxes, hair and makeup, flowers, and everything you need to make your prom style the best ever! There will be multiple booths, refreshments, and free admission to the public.

Time: 1:00pm – 5:00pm
Location: Miller Center
Cost: FREE admission; vendor booth rental is $25.00. (Limited # of booths available; please register early.)
Indoor Garage Sale
Plan ahead in the new year and start cleaning out your closets to take advantage of the convenience and comfort of our indoor gym to sell off all your “stuff.” Sellers must pre-register and purchase a booth. Booths do sell out, so please register early! Shoppers, don’t miss this – our PARA Indoor Garage Sales have been great for bargain shopping and treasure hunting, rain or shine.

Cost: Admission to shoppers is free; booth rental to sellers is $20.00.

Taylorville Brown Branch of the Tuscaloosa Public Library
Located on the 2nd floor of the Miller Center, the Taylorville Brown Branch Library offers a great selection of books, DVDs, and audio books to borrow, and computers and wireless internet service are available on site. They also conduct a variety of special programs for toddlers, children, teens, and adults. On-going programs include Pre-School Story Time, interactive Wii for Teens, and a monthly adult book discussion. All Library events are free and open to the public.
