PARA’s neighborhood programming is designed to offer activities that meet the interests and needs of the communities surrounding each of its activity centers.  Some activities may be available at multiple centers, while others may be unique to a particular location.  Some upcoming neighborhood recreation programs are listed below by center.  If you have ideas for programming at your neighborhood center, please contact the center manager.



Jerry Belk Activity Center

Leroy McAbee Activity Center

After School Reading Tutorial Program:  The complete reading program that entertains as it teaches.  Increase reading levels with fun, music, and games (Mondays and Wednesdays) 3:30pm-5:30pm:  For beginning and struggling readers  Register now for the 2007-2008 school year.

Children's Day!!

Drop them off or stay with them (your choice).  Snacks will be served.  This is your chance to pamper your children.

Giant "Toy and Outside" Garage Sale (other items included)

Date:  June 14, 2008

Time:  7:00 until

Cost:  $15.00 per booth

Location:  McAbee Center

Allow your child to earn some extra money.  Have them clean out their toy boxes of all toys, games, children's furniture etc...in good condition.  Toys may be BIG or small.  Parents you are NOT excluded.  Sale your items as well.

Mary Ann Phelps Activity Center 

  

Parent Track:  Can't find a sitter?  Exercise with your baby!  The walking track will be open to parents with strollers!   Monday, Wednesday and Friday--- Beginning September 3.  9-11am.  FREE for members or $4 per day for non-members.

 Community  Indoor Garage Sale:  Have stuff lying around you need to sell?  Join us for the INDOOR community garage sale!  You can sell your unwanted items or just browse the tables for local treasures!  Saturday, April 5  and Saturday August 2, 2008   Mary Ann Phelps Gym 7a-1p.  Vendor booths are still available for $15.  Admission to the garage sale is FREE.  Call Amy at 562-3230 for more information!

Stroll Patrol:  Walk for better health and make new friends!  Walking in a group increases your enjoyment, motivation and commitment to being active.  Sign up for a walking group today!  April 14-May 23, 2008  FREE for members, and $4/per day for non-members.

Bobby Miller Activity Center

Stride With Pride
Enjoy walking in air-conditioned comfort on our indoor walking track and treadmills. Participants in the Summer Walking Challenge will count their steps using a pedometer and keep a log of their daily progress.

Stroller Steppin
Stroll away stress and extra pounds with your baby! The Miller indoor walking track will be open to parents with strollers. No registration necessary, just come and walk.

Summer Garage Sale
Take advantage of the convenience and comfort of our air-conditioned gym to sell all your cast-offs. Sellers must pre-register and purchase a booth. Shoppers, come out and find some bargains!
