Grand Opening of the new East Tuscaloosa Activity Center on December 18 at 11 a.m. located at 21973 Hwy 216, McCalla, Alabama. An opening ceremony and tour is free and open to the public.


“We have been eagerly anticipating the opening of our seventh activity center in east Tuscaloosa County. This allows PARA to better serve families in an area of high population growth,” said Gary Minor, Director.


The Tuscaloosa County Commission provided funding for the ~18,500 square foot building project spearheaded by District 2 Commissioner Jerry Tingle.


“The Activity center is finally open and I want to thank everyone involved in the project; Judge McCollum, all Commissioners, Tuscaloosa County Public Works and PARA staff. Hopefully, this facility with its activities will help bring all District 2 communities together, said Tingle.


Amenities include an indoor pool with two, 190 foot long indoor/outdoor slides, fitness room, both large and small multipurpose rooms, a catering room, a sheriff’s office and other amenities.


Membership pricing, exclusive to ETAC will be $27 per month for the first member of a household with $10 more per family member. The daily user fee is $8 per person and children ages 5 and under are free when accompanied by an adult member.  More membership details are available by visiting

From Tuscaloosa intersection of I20/59 and Hwy 359: drive east on I20/59 for ~29 miles, take Exit 100 and turn left. Travel 0.9 miles on Hwy 216. The facility is on the left.


From Birmingham: Drive west on I20/59 and take Exit 100 and turn right. Travel 0.9 miles on Hwy 216. The facility is on the left.


From Tuscaloosa Hwy 216: Travel east on Hwy 216 passing through Peterson, Brookwood, Abernant and Lake View. Facility is on the right just before coming to intersection with I20/59.
