General information

Registration Deadline

  • February 14

Coaches Meeting

  • February 10, Phelps Activity Center, 6pm
  • ALL coaches must attend the coaches meeting
  • Player Evaluations: ALL players must attend the player evaluation that will be held on February 16th at the Phelps Center; 6U – 1:00pm, 8U – 2:30pm, 10U/12U – 4:00pm

The age cutoff for all  programs are May 1, 2020.

BIRTH CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED. This can only be added by going into a PARA facility during office hours.  The downtown office on Greensboro Avenue is no longer accepting payments and registrations.  Please visit one of our activity centers across the county to register in person (M-F 8am-5pm).

  • Registration fee includes one practice per week, games, post-season tournament, jersey, belt and hat.
  • Players provide pants, gloves, socks and cleats.
  • Teams will be allowed 1 practice per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday) as part of registration fee.  Your coach may increase the number of practices. Additional practices will be held on Saturdays or Sundays at Sokol A or F (mound) or Sokol B or C (no mound).  Cost will be $14.00 per hour.  All practices must end by 5:00 p.m. due to no lights at Sokol South. 
  • All tee ball practices and games (Saturdays) will be on Sokol E and Sokol F
  • There are no practices/games on Sokol North fields on Wednesdays. 
  • Games may be played on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturdays at Sokol North or Sokol South.  
 

Tee Ball - 3-4 Year Olds

Cost: $100

Registration Deadline: February 14

Tee-Ball bats MUST HAVE the USA mark and language “For use with approved Tee Balls”

Tee-Ball bats cannot be used in a game situation where the ball is tossed/pitched to the batter.

 

TEE BALL RULES

Sandlot League - 7-8 Year Old Beginners

Cost: $140

Early Registration Ends: February 14, 5pm

Late Registration Deadline*: February 17 ($25 late fee will apply)

West Alabama Baseball League - 5-6 Year Old----- 7-8 Year old----- 9-10 year old ----- 11-12 year old

Cost: $160

Early Registration Ends: February 14, 5pm

Late Registration Deadline*: February 17 ($25 late fee will apply)

BAT RULES

 

The barrel of all aluminum, metal alloy, composite, multi piece wood bats or single piece wood bats shall not exceed 2 5/8” inches in diameter, nor exceed 33” inches in length.

All Non-Wood bats and Multi Piece Wood bats must be stamped with the USA Baseball mark signifying that the bat meets the bat performance standards established by USA Baseball. (USA Baseball is the governing body of amateur baseball in the United States.)

Solid Wood Bats made from a single piece of wood, do not require the USA Baseball mark, but must meet all other bat requirements in size and length, as listed above.

2 5/8 inch Bats that are -3 BBCOR (Batted ball coefficient of restitution) certified bats that meet the BBCOR standard, which do not weigh, numerically, more than 3 ounces less than the length of the bat (i.e., 33 inch bat cannot be less than 30 ounces) can be used in regular season and tournament play.

Bats stamped “BPF 1.15” are not legal in any age division. PARENTS SHOULD CAREFULLY CONSIDER THIS RULE BEFORE PURCHASING NEW BATS FOR THEIR PLAYERS FOR THE 2020 SEASON.

PRACTICES

Each team is given one practice per week as part of their registration fee.  If additional practices are needed in that week, a field may be rented at a discounted rate of $14.00 per hour.  If a field with lights is rented, lights are an additional $15.00 per hour.  Teams are encouraged to find some additional space and time at a local church, school, or playground if they do not want to pay for field rental.  The process for reserving a field for practice will be reviewed with all coaches at the coaches meeting.  

PARA will provide complimentary practice space at the McDonald Hughes ballfields and Braughton Park Ballfields (Fosters).

GAMES

League schedules will be posted to this page once they are available. Tee Ball will play a total of 7 games.  Ages 5-12 will play a 12 game regular season and a single elimination post-season tournament.

 

COACHING INFORMATION

Volunteer coaches are needed for this program!  If you are interested in coaching, please complete the items below.

COACHES MEETING/CLINIC

There will be a mandatory coaches meeting scheduled prior to the beginning of the season.  This year's meeting is scheduled for February 10 at 6pm at the Phelps Activity Center.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

All coaches should submit the following items to the PARA administrator prior to approval for coaching in this program.

  • Youth Sports Coach's Application (Completed each season for every sport).
  • Signed Code of Conduct (Completed each season for every sport).
  • Photo of Driver's License (Required for annual background check).
  • Coach Safely Training - Must be completed annually 
  • West Alabama Baseball League Coaching Questionnaire
 
 A VALID PHOTO ID IS REQUIRED TO DO A BACKGROUND CHECK.
