Peanut Butter Festival and Troy AL

We are going to experience some of the history of south Alabama and its heritage in the peanut butter industry while sharing in Grandma’s Smokehouse Breakfast, arts, entertainment of non-stop pickin’, dancin’ and singin’, the Nutter Butter Parade (the funniest parade around), construction of  Alabama’s largest PB & J and much more.  We will stop for dinner in Troy and take in some historical settings and have a dutch treat meal at “The Pine’s”.

Pompeii: Tales from an eruption     Birmingham Museum of Art

This deeply informative exhibit will be available for a short time showing a large collection of artifacts from the ancient Italian city of Pompeii.  We will visit the Summit for two hours, come the Birmingham Museum of Art for lunch at The Terrace and be ready to tour at 1:30 pm.

Eagle Awareness Weekend

Eagle awareness has been a tradition at Lake Guntersville State Park for 20 years.  We will travel up to the State Park on Friday evening with rooms that overlook the Bluff.  Saturday will begin early at Short Creek to venture out to see the eagles.  We will come in and warm up  with lunch at the lodge and have an afternoon field trip with the Naturalist before heading home.

Kennedy Center Theater at the MSU Riley Center

 

A special presentation by the White House Historical Association in conjunction with the Kennedy Center of an exciting new musical inspired by Theodore Roosevelt and his family.  In the summer of 1904, young Kermit, Ethel & Archie Roosevelt stumble upon a real-life treasure map hidden in their library’s copy of Treasure Island.  This is a clever and comical production the entire family will enjoy.

Atlanta Cyclorama & Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotives

 

The Cyclorama boasts the world’s largest painting of the Battle of Atlanta.  Accompanied by music, lighting, sound effects and narration, the painting brings to life the story of the famous battle.  This is the longest running cyclorama in the country.  We will eat a dutch treat lunch and travel north to the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History.   History comes alive this day!!

Museums of Montgomery

 

Come visit the home of  F. Scott Fitzgerald and his family from the 1930’s.  This is the only museum dedicated to the memory of the Fitzgerald’s.   We will move downtown Montgomery to eat a Montgomery Brewing Company before visiting the Hank Williams Museum.

Vaudeville Café Murder Mystery Dinner Show & the Tennessee Aquarium

We will travel up to Chattanooga Tennessee to enjoy a day and night in the City.  We will arrive in time for lunch at T.G.I. Friday’s.  Just across the street we will enjoy the sights of the TN Aquarium and IMAX movie.  This also includes a visit to the “Penguins’ Rock exhibit.   After checking into our stay at the Chattanooga Choo Choo we will have dinner with fun at the Vaudeville Café.  Once inside you will meet & talk with play’s crazy characters, witness a crime that you must help solve!  We will dine on unlimited Italian food, beverages, dessert and laugh as you become part of the show with the zany detective!   It’s family fun, appropriate for all ages.
