VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK ASSOCIATION AND PARA TO DELAY MEMORIAL DAY PROGRAM

For the first time in many years, Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority’s Veterans Memorial Park Association will not host a Memorial Day Program in Veterans Memorial Park.

In light of the current COVID-19 outbreak with gatherings and social distancing guidelines and in consideration for health and safety of our veterans, our military families and loved ones, PARA and association members believe it is the right thing to do. There are plans to hold a joint Memorial Day and Veterans Day Program on November 11.

Col Duane Lamb, president of the association stated, “The flags will be placed in memory of those veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great nation. We encourage the community to feel free to visit our beautiful park during the day and remember our veterans’ courage and sacrifice. It is our Memorial Day responsibility to never forget.”
