Competitive Program

Tuscaloosa United Soccer Club’s Competitive Program is for players U12-U19 or 11-18 years old. Competitive teams play within the Alabama Soccer Association State League and compete for Alabama State Championships and the opportunity to attend USYS Regional Championships.

Coached by our highly qualified, professional coaching staff, competitive teams practice two to three times a week, compete in league games, and have the opportunity to attend tournaments each season.

Competitive Soccer is an invitation only program.  Tryouts are held each spring for players who would like to be considered for a competitive team. This is a great opportunity for your child to compete with players of similar ability and commitment level and enjoy an excellent experience with youth soccer.

Our Competitive Soccer Program runs in both the fall and spring seasons. Each team trains twice per week, with additional weekly goalkeeper training at the Sokol North Complex.

Games are played at home (Sokol North) and at various locations across Alabama. Travel is required. Teams may occasionally schedule extra practices based on game schedules or team needs.

Annual Club Tryouts

All players interested in joining the Competitive Soccer Program at Tuscaloosa United Soccer Club must attend our Annual Tryouts held each spring. Tryouts and team formation are currently based on birth year, in accordance with U.S. Soccer guidelines.

We strongly encourage all players to attend the Tryouts, as this is the primary opportunity for coaches to evaluate and form teams for the upcoming season.

This spring, Competitive Tryouts will be held on May 12-13, 2025, for players born in 2007-2013.  These evaluations are to create teams to compete in the Fall 2025 soccer season of the Alabama State League of the Alabama Soccer Association.

Competitive Tryouts: May 12-13, 2025
Players born in 2008-2013

Please note: Tryout dates are set by age by The Alabama Soccer Association. The ASA allows 2014 teams to be placed in either the Alabama State League (Competitive) or the D-League (Academy).  Tuscaloosa United Soccer Club will make the league determination for the 2014 teams after evaluations.

Supplemental Tryouts
Players who are unable to attend due to relocation, injury, or other extenuating circumstances may request a Supplemental Tryout by contacting the Executive Director.

  • Used only to fill open spots on existing teams, if space is available.
  • All team formation happens during the Annual Tryouts.
  • There is no guarantee of space after tryouts conclude.
