PARA OFFERS SOCCER DEMOS AND MORE AT HUGHES CENTER

Tuscaloosa, Ala. ~ Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority announces a soccer demo and introduction to Tuscaloosa Sports at the Hughes Activity Center on March 10 at 4-6 pm. The Hughes Center is located at 3101 MLK, Jr. Blvd. and the event is free and open to the public.

“We are excited to partner with many community organizations to revitalize and promote traditional sports in our community and partner with Tuscaloosa Tourism & Sports to help engage and expose our children to non-traditional sports,” said Jay Logan, Director of Community Outreach, PARA4life and Youth Athletics.

“The benefits of soccer are numerous. From physical activity, to teaching sportsmanship and leadership, soccer is universally fun, and PARA is excited to grow the game in our community,” said Coach Barry Spitzer, Executive Director, Tuscaloosa United Soccer Club.

Along with a soccer demo from Tuscaloosa United players and introduction of Tuscaloosa Sports programs, there will be a second demonstration of Teqball. The Teqball table is provided courtesy of Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports.

Teqball is a ball sport that is played on a curved table, combining elements of soccer and table tennis. Back and forth, the players hit a soccer ball with any part of the body except arms and hands. Teqball can be played between two players as a singles game, or between four players as a doubles game, according to officials.

PARA welcomes youth ages 3 and up and their families to learn more about the benefits of playing youth sports with PARA.
